ENDORSEMENT BY MIKE HEBRON
The following is an excerpt from Mike
Hebron's new book "Golf Swing Secrets and Lies - Six Timeless Lessons"
page 44:
"The Country Where Golf is King"
by Ed Laskody is a book filled with wonderfully dry humor and insights
into human nature. The story’s main character, Jim Blake, is obsessed
with improving his golf, and with his wife’s blessing he takes an
extended trip to the country where “golf is king”.
Shortly after arriving, Jim
learns that there is a golf hell that houses an instruction
merry-go-round, on which the golf swing is divided into parts and tips.
Jim is also warned once most golfers get on this merry-go-round of tips
they stay on for the rest of their golfing lives trying to improve.
Each stall on this instruction merry-go-round is labeled with a
different tip, i.e. pause at the top, finish high, etc. At first, Jim
thinks these tips are good and overlooks the fact that they are coming
from a carousel in golf hell. These tips will only let golfers
approximate a swing and serve the hellish purpose of stopping any
golfer from truly learning their swing.
Jim Blake sounds like many
golfers who want to improve, but they are in golf hell hearing a lot of
“ how to tips” from well meaning friends. "The Country Where Golf is
King" comes to the conclusion that golf is a problem to be solved, not
a mystery to be lived, with science as our guide.
Secret: Science is defined as
knowledge gained through experience and golfers who gain long term
progress do not use science, they do science, learning through
self-discovery.
